Research areas:

  • hygro- thermo- mechanics of partially and fully saturated porous materials, in particular building materials and soils;
  • hygro- thermal behaviour and damage of concrete at high temperature;
  •  hygro- thermo- mechanical behaviour and maturing of fresh concrete structures;
  • computer modelling of coupled heat and moisture transfer with phase changes in capillary porous materials, including freezing and thawing phenomena;
  • application of inverse problems for heat and mass transfer;
  • computer simulation of heat and mass exchange inside buildings, including problems related to thermal comfort and passive solar systems;
  • problems related to sustainable development and energy saving in housing, energy auditing;
  • application of artificial neural networks and evolutionary algorithms for hygral and thermal problems;
